Come together before we fall apart... protest for more peace

I spoke with the folks who formed the peace rally yesterday, they are unaware of WWWD. It will take more individual effort to get the word out. We need to align ourselves with others to be effective. Progress is slow but sure. Will miss the Checkered Past performance, and Holly, enjoy Oregon, one of Americas Utopias. Maybe John Norton will join in...

Peace Rallies

You're probably right.  We should be down there singing our songs, and handing out fliers, getting people to be more involved.  The group that goes down there is already pretty involved, but those are the kind of people who would love to come to WWWD.

Thumbs up on Stan

Stan Slaughter would be a good one. I wonder if June Holte will be back in town and ready to rumble then? (She used to be a member of Checkered Past and is a lovely singer.) I'll mention it to her and see if she will be available.

Sorry we're going to be out of the picture for a couple of WWWDs. Summertime and the livin' is busy ... --kc

I don't know Stan Slaughter, but if you say he would be good, that is cool with me.

Perhaps we can rethink the format a bit, either by making the circles longer (4 or even 5 songs) or going to individual sets of 4 or 5 songs. With the latter, the person doing the set could "invite" others up to join in a group sing to close that set. That is certainly a more traditional way to do events like this. With several out, it will be even more important to advertise the event, also. Every performer out is also an empty seat in the audience. Anyway, since the show is bound to be quite different, let's try to use the opportunity to see how we can make it better.

Stan Slaughter

Stan is the "Eco-Troubador". He has an awesome resume. Check it out: http://www.stanslaughter.com/resume.html

If we only have, say eight performers, we could do four sets of two people. We could probably go with four songs each too. That would be 32 songs, which would probably go over 3 hours, but not by much. I don't really want to go back to solo sets, as I really enjoy the interaction between artists on stage. I think that is an important ingredient in the WWWD secret sauce. Cool

June 30 - Checkered Past is elsewhere

Several members of Checkered Past will be at another event that day. If the other members want to be at WWWD, they will contact you separately. Also, for July, Checkered Past is scheduled to be at the Fringe Festival. There is a small chance that the FF schedule will allow us to do both performances, but I doubt it. Lynn

Checkered Past out

If Checkered Past is out, that pretty much leaves room for everyone else, I think. There are nine individual slots, so those who want to can play.

So far I have heard from ZZ, Matt, and Jim Abel, so counting me, that's 4. That leaves 5 slots. John, David, Joe, Holly, Vigilante, and Recipie are all possibilities. I think Holly might be out, but I'm not sure. Stan Slaughter is back out performing, but haven't heard from him. I would love it if he could play.

So, who's up?

Who's Out

OK.  I just got confirmation that David is out for June with prior engagement, and Holly Taylor is moving to Oregon with her new family.  Best wishes to Holly, and hope she starts an Oregon WWWD.  So, hopefully everyone else can play, else we will need to change up the sets a bit, which is fine.  We can do that if we need to.

I can do the 30th. Sorry

I can do the 30th. Sorry i've been MIA for a bit, hella busy with Greensburg stuff. But I'm down for the show, whatever format is fine. DJ spence is gone so it'll be back to me with the CD and ya'll jamming.

Lineup

ZZ, Matt, Jim Abel, Joe, Jim Herrmann, and I have another guy named Bill Peete.  With just six, we could each play FIVE songs each.  Could we stand that?  I'm going to have a poster made with these six names, and if we add more, we'll adjust the sets, but they just won't be on the flyer.

Lineup Updated

John Mitchell has committed to playing with us on the 30th.  That makes six.  That's five songs apiece.

June 30

Good.  Happy to see John committed.  Are you planning groups sets or solo sets?  I will be out of touch for a few days starting tomorrow and am putting together a play list now.

Sets

With only six of us, we could do solo sets, but I like the interaction we get when more people are on the stage at once.  How about by twos?  Three sets of two.  We could wait to decide until that night, I suppose.

June 30

Count me in.
